FDAM – STOP FIGHTING FOR THE “JAGUH KAMPUNG” TITLE AND THINK GLOBAL

Insulting the Federal Constitution and disrespecting the RUKUNEGARA? With reference to The Star article titled “FDAM upset over change in film fest rules”.

Datuk Abdul Rahim Awang, do you really know what is stated in RUKUNEGARA? I see these days, many dumb politicians have been using Federal Constitution and Rukunegara to tear the country apart and now the movie industry has also join forces. Where was FDAM when in some movies which was stated as based on “true story”, Malaysian history was altered and distorted to the extent of causing injustice to one particular race that led to public outcry and racial tense for several months in our country?

Looks like FDAM is not confident with the competency of Malay movie makers and it rather play safe by not competing directly with others and continue to uphold their “JAGUH KAMPUNG” title. FDAM’s statement is in fact an insult to the Malay movie makers! It suggests that the Malay movie makers are not qualified and incompetent that there is a need to crutch them with misinterpreted Federal Constitution and Rukunegara!

If you are so confident, you should get out of your comfort zone and compete with the rest, understand what Rukunegara and Federal Constitution states before using it as an excuse to favour and manipulate the system without competing on an equal footing and claim glory on movies which does not deserve these awards! Because of these few selfish people our nation’s unity and harmony are at stake. Federal Constitution and Rukunegara promotes peace, justice, unity and EQUALITY! All those who are supporting FDAM’s stand in this matter indicate that they have a poor understanding of the Federal Constitution and the Rukunegara.

Maybe its time for you, “jaguh kampung”, to go home and membelek-belek buku sekolah anak/cucu kamu dan baca erti RUKUNEGARA!

RUKUNEGARA “NATIONAL PRINCIPLES” states the following:
INDEED, OUR COUNTRY MALAYSIA aspires to achieving a greater unity for all her peoples:

• Maintaining a democratic way of life ;
• Creating a just society in which the wealth of the nation shall be equitably shared ;
• Ensuring a liberal approach to her rich and diverse cultural traditions, and ;
• Building a progressive society which shall be oriented to modern science and technology;

WE, the people of Malaysia, pledge our united efforts to attain these ends, guided by these principles: :-
• Belief in God
• Loyalty to King and country
• Upholding the constitution
• Rule of Law
• Good behavior and morality

The Best Film Award category at the Malaysia Film Festival (FFM) in September should be open to all film industry players in the country and introduction of a new category, the Best Film in the National Language should suffice to address the needs of FDAM and like minded. If they continue to insist for the segregation of Best Film Award, FINAS should organise a new Film Festival called “MALAY FILM FESTIVAL” for all the JAGUH KAMPUNG.
