http:\/\/goo.gl\/p3Y3P<\/a><\/p>\nKAMPAR: The Government will not enforce hudud law in Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said that although it was accepted in Islam, its implementation must be based on reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cHudud laws cannot be implemented as we have to take into consideration the environment and the reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe aim of an administration according to Islam is based on the maqasid syariah principle, which, among others, entails protecting religion, life, morals and property,\u201d he said after the launch of the Tanjung Tualang 1Malaysia carnival here yesterday.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said under current laws, the principle and objective of maqasid syariah could be championed.<\/p>\n
Najib said there were already elements of hudud in the system \u201cminus the extreme part\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis does not mean there are no Islamic laws being practised in Malaysia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Najib added that PAS leaders had raised the issue to divert the rakyat’s attention.<\/p>\n
PAS is trying to emerge as a party championing hudud law to win the hearts of the Malays, he said, referring to recent events following PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu’s comments calling the men who had attacked the police base in the Bukit Kepong incident as heroes.<\/p>\n
